The news make me think
the world is going to hell.
I’d better wise up.
Too many people
and too many arguments.
Can’t we get along?
I cannot believe
the world is so depressing.
Enough of this gloom.

I rarely watch, listen to, or read the news. I guess I am like an ostrich, with my head in the sand. In this day and age, the old adage...no news is good news, works for me.
amen! like Karen, I tend to avoid listening to the news...a yoga teacher of mine taught me this practice of checking in only occasionally many years ago...not to avoid reality, but to prevent more suffering than is necessary by getting sucked into the negative vortex...MOSTLY the world is a beautiful place...I really do believe that:)
don't know why but my last message didn't seem to go through...anyway...I'm with Karen on this. A wise yoga teacher of mine suggested years ago to limit listening to the negativity of the "news"...it high lights the terrible stuff...when we KNOW that beneath it all the world is mostly good...blogging is a perfect example of this! Look how much love and caring there is here? And it is a global sampling of the compassion and kindness that is abundant!
I agree with all these arguments, too depressing. I guess local disagreements went on, way back in time (with no TV)

We can't appreciate the good without some bad I guess.
But I agree it is depressing. Very.
BTW did you notice the picture you posted was a tangle?
Karen, Laura, Kim, and Sherry,
I limit my viewing of news, especially political news where people are screaming at each other. I try to remain informed without being sucked into the vortex of gloom and doom, as I call it. I don't always succeed, but that is my intent. Still, as tomorrow's poem will show, I am no innocent bystander either.

Unfortunately, I watch way too much news, and it can get depressing. I try to even it out by reading murder mysteries!! At least they're fiction.
Peace,
Muff
