What Do They Have? - Encore

Many seem certain
of what life is all about
and I just marvel.

Some swagger in with
a boldness and bravado
that I never had.

Is there a gene for
the blustering confidence
some seem to possess?

HI JUDY - if there is such a gene I hope I don't have it. I am used to the wonder of not knowing, the surprise for good at times - I savor those. Mostly I am confident in hope and faith because life unfolds all around us and there is little we can do. So it is in the standing (or sitting) firm in what I believe and rely on that gives me confidence to wake up and 'loosen the leather straps' that bind me. Amen.
Love to you my friend

I think at one time I actually did possess the bravado of which you speak -- I felt confident in all that I did. That hubris was squelched quickly as the MonSter moved in to vanquish it.

Gail, that's very wise, words worth reading again and again.

Muff, though my poem says I never had that boldness and bravado, I must have had it at some at some point. Otherwise, I don't think I would have had the career accomplishments I had. My MS came so early, though, that it started squelching that so long ago that it is easy for me to forget that I ever possessed it. And you're right, it was hubris made bare by the MonSter.
