Support Network

Family matters,
ensuring continuance,
also well being.

A support network
essential for survival
is the species norm.

Problems will arise
when what should be inherent
is in absentia.

I am always grateful that I have such a supportive team behind me. They fill in the many blanks I've amassed during the course of MS.
Peace,
Muff

Family support is needed, but if that fails, one can often rely on friends. With so many family members needing support these days (including myself), friends can be a Godsend.

So many without family or friends. Many who are alone, faces turned from them out of fear, anger, laziness, weakness, or just oblivion. How often the neediest are forgotten. Sad commentary for our world. So, honor those who stay, who care, who provide any solace that they can. It is the only meaning in this life.

I sometimes think that, even when the physical condition itself is much worse, those with strong support networks fare better than those without. My support network is fairly thin, though what I have of it I am grateful for. I just had a wonderful Father’s Day weekend where the presence of family made known its value. This poem was written in recognition that many lack this essential condition, which after all is rooted in nature, where animals largely thrive in community.

Muff, your support network is extraordinary. You are blessed.

Karen, you’re right. Friends can fill the void; indeed, sometimes do it better than family members.

Hilda, you are truly an example of
a support network at its best. It is a sad commentary for our world that there are so many alone, bereft of the solace and love family and friends can offer. Indeed, in the end, you’re right. It is the only meaning in this life.
