Post Traumatic Growth

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Coppicing_stump.jpg

Some people bounce back
when trauma upends their lives.
Struggle inspires growth.

Finding the new good
facilitates growth despite
distress remaining.

In how one reacts,
existing character traits
may be the real key.

Interesting article! I think my own trauma (MS,) has afforded me opportunities to expand. The less I can do physically, the more I seek ways to remain positive and even joyous.

Muff and Karen, I loved this article because it was so representative of how I have tried to re-invent my life post-MS. I certainly would never have published a book of poetry, maybe even not written a blog. Now, I can't imagine my life without either one. Nor can I imagine not having you two as friends. All these have been great things which have happened to me. Do I still wish MS would go away? Absolutely! And, maybe, someday that still might happen. I don't care if I'm one foot in the grave. I'll still keep hoping.

Kim, glad you liked the picture. Sometimes it takes longer to find the right image than it does to write the poem!
