I Want to Believe

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:11_Machaon.jpg

Friends, I am going away for a while. In my absence, I leave you with this poem, the first in my book Peace on the Journey. For, despite unremitting life challenges, I still want to believe ...

Life is a blessing.
Joy reigns as a birthright gift.
Gentleness is mine.

Discord and sorrow
oppressive and enduring
can be overcome.

Love will seek a way
to salve even the deepest
open wounds of loss.

My husband had a stroke, though thankfully he is ambulatory. I'm challenged not only by the emotional fallout but also from the additional stresses of caregiving and the fear for the impact on my MS. I'm very tired. Even with the help of neighbors and family, I feel stretched. I'm hardly the ideal candidate for being a caregiver. For those of you who pray, pray for me. For others, just send good thoughts my way. This is hard.

This is so horrible! You both are in my prayers that this too shall pass. I'm so sorry and sad that you've had yet another road bump on this journey.
I love that poem every time I read it.

Judy,
I will think of you,
There are no words to convey my sorrow for the burdens you carry.
Peace, illusive peace...how I wish it for you.

Wow, Judy, Will pray for you and your husband. I have been awful about reading blogs lately but your butterfly called to me. Remember with strokes, like MS, slow it down. New pathways Take Time to form. They signify healing and also signals take longer to process. Ambulatory is good.Still, frustrating for you both. Deficits that cannot be seen are the worst. All loss requires grieving. Healing takes a mm per day. Sleep/rest mandatory. That is when healing occurs. Like MS, old scars pop up in times of stress. Try to avoid (right!) If I can help even be an ear email me...

Muff, Gail, Hilda, and Mary,

Thank you for your good words and prayers, which have really helped me get through this. He is feeling better but still weak. It feels like endless visits to doctors and test facilities. But at least things don't seem as bleak. Now, let's hope for the best. :)
