Falls

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Cooktown_orchids.jpg

Orchid petals waft
from their airy loft in trees,
drifting down to grass.

My falls rarely glide
to a cushioning surface,
brain and bones at risk.

Lacking orchid grace,
my last fall injured a rib.
It hurt when I moved.

Oh dear falls do hurt! I hope you get something to grab hold of if you don't already have something near you. You have a good thought about how pretty falls can be in nature!

Hi Judy - so sorry to hear of your fall. I hope your healing and strength go well. I too fell, and I posted the following on facebook -

Yesterday I experienced my FIRST in almost 11 years MS related fall!! I hit the ground hard and fast - my bad leg/foot kinda rolled over and gave out and down I went. Skipp Schwartz came running to me as did my sister Nancy Kelly and her son Ethan. I had wondered if I could get up on my own if I ever fell and now I had the answer. I could not! It was quite a circus act to get me up and sitting on the bed - scary to say the least. The harsh reality of this disease overwhelmed mel. The fall and what it took to get me up was horrifying. I am feeling quite beat up today - my left arm and elbow are bruised and very hard to move, the left side of my lower back and hip are injured, both knees and my stomach muscles are sore.

That was last week - I am still recovering. Sending healing prayers your way.
Love Gail
peace.....

You're so correct in saying that our falls are not graceful. Instead of gentle petals floating to the ground, we're more like logs falling from a rotted tree! Hope you are healing.

Oh yikes Judy, how nasty. Been there, done that, I fell in March and cracked a couple of ribs. Hope you heal quickly!

Please know that I am well and almost fully recovered. Thank goodness it was not a broken rib.

Kim, yes, nature can produce a variety of falls which are beautiful like, e.g. waterfalls.

Gail, I'm sorry for your fall. Thank goodness you had helpers. I hope you feel better soon.

Hilda, thanks for your kind thoughts. Your Spanish is great!

Muff, comparing our falls to logs is a perfect description. Maybe I was engaging in wishful thinking in trying to compare ours to petals drifting down.

Karen, I remember when it happened to you. I hope you're fully recovered.
