Kicked Out in the Cold

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Eviction#mediaviewer/File:Sat_ud_%28Henningsen%29.jpg

Oh, the safety net
beneath the infirm, the poor,
leaves some in the cold.

When those most in need
find protection deficient,
we all become poor.

Kicked out on the street,
the promise of liberty
falls short of ideal.

"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door."
- Emma Lazarus

I know that painting :) belongs to the museum less than 5 minutes from my house and the building depicted is very close to my house too.

Always thought that it was a scary painting as the people are now on their own with no immediate roof over their head - circumstances beyond their control leaving them to misery or unknown times.

Always scary to read about evictions and I hope for Diane and Karen that their situation may find some light at the end of a dark tunnel

That was a terrible thing that happened to Diane and Karenlee. I hope they get some legal advice before they're evicted.

I can't believe what is happening to Diane and Karenlee. Only in America...

Anne, Muff, and Karen, though I have checked Diane's blog frequently, I still have no idea what their current situation is. I hope they have found something that works for them.

In the meantime, I will soon be announcing my own leave of absence because of my husband's deteriorating health.

Wishing you all the best.

So sorry Judy. Good to know you are getting some help.

D&K are Facebook friends. They have a week left to find a place, and as of tonight, they still have nothing lined up, but some prospects.

I am having a nasty relapse, not posting as much on my photo blog. We can keep in touch with emails.

Take care dear lady.
