Research shows that, “in all cultures, the conviction that one’s predicament is hopeless may cause or hasten disintegration and death.” [Jerome and Julia Frank, Persuasion and Healing] The tools available to me to fight this disease are limited. Could it be that keeping hope alive is the strongest weapon in my arsenal?

Every time I see victims of these disasters, my heart breaks. I stand in awe when I observe their resilience. I have my own battles to fight, but they seem so small in comparison.
Muff, yes, their tragedy seems unimaginably hard. Tragedies are difficult to rank, though, in terms of their impact. That may be, in part, because the impact is ultimately always felt individually. In that sense, these and other tragedies can serve as a metaphor for MS.
